The TPA is a non-profit organization that promotes the use of grasses that require fewer inputs.

Our licensed members are among the highest-quality sod farms in the United States and Canada. They have sought out licensed grasses that will help their customers succeed.

Following the discovery of the first RTF variety, Labyrinth, Barenbrug recognized its distinct performance characteristics, an observation quickly validated by sod producers on their own farms. In response to this opportunity, the RTF Turf Producers Association was established in 2002 to provide sod producers with greater control over the production, licensing, and marketing of a branded sod program.

After nearly two decades of successful program growth, responsibility for the HGT Sod program was incorporated into the Association’s scope, prompting the transition to the TPA. This expansion also enabled licensed growers to produce RTF Sod with HGT bluegrass as a complementary component, resulting in the introduction of a third offering: RTF+HGT Sod.

After 24 years of success, the TPA has become the longest-running licensed cool-season grass program of its kind.
